Volunteer opportunity description

The Tulsa Area United Way, in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service and other local organizations, assists families with free preparation of their income tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

The VITA program utilizes IRS-trained community volunteers to provide this free service to local residents.

Through this program, VITA clients, who have an average income of $19,000, receive help completing their tax returns and accessing tax credits for which they are eligible.

Last year our volunteers prepared over 2,500 returns for Tulsa area residents, saving Tulsans over $500,000 and helping bring  over 3 million dollars back to the community

VITA sites are open days, nights and some Saturdays so volunteers can choose the schedule that works best for them!

Tax preparation experience is not necessary but computer skills are required.

Volunteers will receive free IRS training that will enable them to provide this assistance to the community. Online and instructor led training provided.

This volunteer opportunity offers flexible hours, days, nights and weekends!
