Volunteer opportunity description

CIS has been selected for a Developmental Relationship Project through the Office of Juvenile Justice Department. This project will show how mentors can affect student outcomes in middle schools. Our middle school site coordinators at Webster Middle and Rogers Junior need at least 5 volunteer mentors each to mentor 5 students for part of the school year. Mentors can meet with the students in small group or individually for 3-4 hours a month. Our site coordinators will be following attendance, behavior and course performance metrics on these students like they would any other case managed student, however, the students will be given several assessments and the mentors will have specific training for this project. We need 5 more volunteers to step up and mentor a middle school student. We are looking for college students, working professionals, or retired people.
